Too Faced Chocolate Bar Smokey Eye

Hey Everyone!!

On Friday I posted about my Palette of the Month for April, which is the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette (read about it here) and as promised here is my look using the colours Gilded Ganache and Triple Fudge!

The Base

Today I started with my base  and although there was a bit of fallout from the shadows, it wasn’t problematic and didn’t disturb the makeup I had already applied.

To begin I applied Benefit Porefessional to my face, this really helps to conceal shine and minimise my pores. I then applied Too Faced Shadow Insurance to prime my eyelids!

I used the Maybelline Dream Satin liquid foundation in the shade 4 Light Porcelain, with a Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I do like this foundation but it is very pink on my skin, so I don’t like to use it too much! This foundation has a medium coverage, which helps to make this look more day time appropriate!

I applied MAC Mineralise Skinfinish in Light with the Real Techniques Multi-Task Brush, to my T-Zone to set the foundation and keep shine at bay!

To highlight I used my holy grail highlighter – theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer to the tops of my cheekbones and the tip of my nose using a Sigma F35.

To chisel out my cheekbones, I used the Medium Cocoa shade from the Too Faced Cocoa Contour palette with a Sigma F05. I really like how this looks on me, it’s the perfect contour shade without being too obvious.

To add some colour to my cheeks I used MAC Sheertone Blush in the shade Peaches, this colour is perfect for the Spring as it isn’t too strong and just helps to freshen up any look!

To fill in my brows I used the Soap and Glory Brow Archery in the shade Hot Chocolate, and L’Oreal Brow Artist Plumper in the shade Medium/Dark to set them in place. I tried to keep my brows light and natural because I didn’t want them to be too overpowering with the eye look!

 

The Eyes

To begin with I applied White Chocolate, from the Chocolate Bar Palette, all over my lid from lash line to brow bone using the Smashbox Precision brush, I find this helps to set the primer and makes blending easier.

I applied Salted Caramel, from the Chocolate Bar Palette in my crease using the Real Techniques Crease Brush, this will be used as a somewhat transition shade in this look. Make sure to blend this colour really well!

 

Apply Gilded Ganache all over the mobile lid and under the bottom lashes, using an eyeshadow brush by Laura Geller. Make sure to really pack this colour on to get the most impact.

Then I like to use Salted Caramel and a MAC 217 to blend the edges of the eyeshadow, on both the lid and under the eye. This is probably the most important step as it helps to create a really seamless look. Then just keep packing on the colour and blending until you’re happy!

 

I use the shade Triple Fudge, from the Chocolate Bar palette, in the outer V, crease and along the lash line to smoke out the look more and really intensify the eyes. I like to apply this shade with a MAC 219 on the outer corners of the lower lash line to make the look more sultry and using a MAC 263 I use this colour along the lash line, this is a great trick to making your lashes look thicker without applying eyeliner. I like to use a MAC 217 to blend the eyeshadow into kind of a cat eye shape to really elongate my eyes.

I like to apply MAC’s Vanilla Pigment with the Smashbox Precision brush to the inner corners. This is the perfect inner corner highlight, as it is very reflective and adds a lot of lightness to the eye.

To finish up, I apply a dab of Creme Brûlée, from the Chocolate Bar palette, to the centre of my lid, this shade works really well with the Gilded Ganache colour as it has gold flecks through it.

 

I then use MAC eye pencil in Feline to tightline my eyes, this helps to make my lashes look thicker and helps to make this a smokier look.

For mascara I used a combination of my favourites.

 

I first applied the Benefit They’re Real tinted primer to my lashes, I go over this with the Benefit They’re Real mascara and use Benefit Roller lash to comb out my lashes and help  them keep a curl. For my bottom lashes I use MAC Extended Play Gigablack Lash Mascara, this is my go to bottom lash mascara, as it helps to separate lashes and adds a lot of length!

 

The Lips

I first went in with the Too Faced Melted lipstick in Melted Nude, but I felt this was too orange for this look so I went over with MAC Creme Cup lipstick and I really liked the end result.

If you’re planning on wearing this for a long time I would recommend using a setting spray like the Urban Decay All Nighter spray!

 

The End Result

I tried to make this more of a daytime smokey eye look, to take it from day to night I would suggest using more the the Gilded Ganache and Triple Fudge shades to darken the look, I would also add a nice winged liner and some lashes and go for a darker nude lip, such as MAC Velvet Teddy or MAC Faux.
