By now many of you regular readers know that I am a nude lips kinda girl! I own too many nude lipsticks and am constantly buying more but there are those days when I feel like doing a bold lip and these are my go-to colours for those days!
Mauve tone lips have been a huge trend for a while now, especially in the autumn/winter months! I feel that this colour can be very wearable and everyday, especially the paler, more pink tones, however, if you go for a darker more brown tone then it can be a bold statement lip! I like to use Lolita by Kat Von D, for a bold lip and when paired with MAC’s Whirl lip liner it looks amazing! I have a post listing my favourite mauve liquid lipsticks, here!
Red Lips are the classic bold lip, they give off that old Hollywood Glamour vibe that is just so flattering on everyone! I have a couple of red/berry tone lipsticks that I just really love and they look great all year round! I would suggest pairing them with a lip liner like Maybelline’s Pleasure Me Red as it’s a great standard red colour so it works well under all these lipsticks without impacting the colour!
I! This shade is Nars Charlotte and its a very berry red colour, which I find really suits me! This has a satin like finish and is all round a lovely, comfortable colour!
This is Kate Moss for Rimmel in the shade 107, it is really similar to the Nars shade, I would say it is almost a dupe! This one has a matte finish, which works really well at winter!
My all time favourite red lip is Ruby Woo by MAC, it is a really vibrant matte red and just looks so sophisticated on the lip! I wore it in a recent post (here) if you want to see what it is like on!
Cruella is another beautiful red lip colour by Nars. I feel that this is the most universally flattering shade and the most perfect red! It really would suit anyone, so I highly recommend it and as it is a lip crayon you don’t really need a lipliner to get a good outline for your lips!
These colours all have a distinct purple undertone, which I really love for when I’m feeling brave enough to wear them. Honestly it’s not often enough considering how much I love these colours! I used MAC’s Currant lipliner which is a really lovely purple colour and helps to bring out the purple undertones in these colours!
I really love Copenhagen from NYX, the colour is a really rich berry purple, which dries matte. The only downside is the consistency of the lip creme can be a bit blotchy, as you can see from the swatch, so a lipliner is a definite must!
MAC’s Amorous has a satin finish and works really well with the lipliner! The satin finish creates a much more wearable look, which I really like when wearing such a bold colour!
Well those are my favourites, what is you’re go-to for a bold lip?
Hope to see you around,
