I cannot believe that it is 2017! I’m so thankful for all the opportunities I had in 2016 and I’m so glad I have the courage to start this blog! One of my favourite posts to plan and publish every month is my Palette of the Month so it seemed only fitting to keep this one going in 2017! And for the first Palette of the Month of 2017, I went for my most exciting and recent palette, the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette.
Not only is this palette super cute, it smells like chocolate! I am a big fan of the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette, read my review here. So naturally I had to get this one, there is such a variety of shades in this palette, with some really beautiful pink shades.
Overall there are 16 shades in the palette, there are 6 mattes and 10 shimmers/frost shades. I’m not going to lie I was a little disappointed in the pigmentation of this palette, it definitely wasn’t up to the standard of the original palette!
There are still some lovely really pigmented colours, such as, Totally Fetch, Bordeaux and Earl Grey but the paler colours like Almond Truffle and Cashew Chew – the 4th and 5th swatches – have little to no pigmentation. You can’t actually even see the Cashew Chew swatch yet I went over it three times, which is totally disappointing from a brand like Too Faced!
Another small thing that I found to be annoying with this palette was the shape of the pans, although they look so cute and pretty with the little heart shapes it’s really impractical as most fluffy blending brushes don’t fit in nicely and you have to be precise when dipping in! I also imagine that over time as you begin to hit pan it will be so much harder to get the shadow left!
This is one of those palettes that definitely needs a primer underneath! On the top of my hand I applied Cafe Au Lait and Cotton Candy with Urban Decay Primer Potion Original and you can see how much more vibrant the colours are! This is especially prevalent in the pale pink Cotton Candy shade, it looks so much more exciting with the primer whereas it looks almost dull without it!
Overall, I do really like this palette, it’s not the best palette I’ve used and it’s certainly not the best palette Too Faced have out but it’s a nice one to add to the collection! The best things about this palette are most definitely the packaging and the colour selection, but the colour payoff without a primer is really a shame!
Have you tried this palette? If so what did you think of it?
Hope to see you around,
