Hey Everyone,
This week one of my best friends from high school went from Miss To Mrs! She’s the first from our friendship group to get married and I’m not going to lie, it’s so strange that she is a wife! I’m so happy for her and wish them all the best for the future.
Weddings can be a tricky thing to dress for, there is a certain level of elegance expected at a formal event, and often this can lead to a higher price tag. Of course I probably own a tonne of different things I could have worn, but I wanted something new without paying through the nose for it! I opted for a pale blue bandeau dress, something I wouldn’t normally go for but I loved it. I’m a UK Size 12/14, so of course there are going to be some lumps and bumps when I wear a tight dress but this dress made me feel so pretty I didn’t even care!
Dress: ASOS £15
Shoes: New Look £22.99
I also wore a little white jacket and carried my nude Michael Kors clutch bag. I really loved this outfit.
For my makeup tonight I opted for cool tonnes, going for greys, navy and silver to match my outfit. I’m not going to lie it was strange not going for my usual warm tones or pinks but I liked the change and I enjoy pushing myself outside my comfort zone from time to time.
As I was going for a dramatic look I started with my eyes, first applying Urban Decay Primer Potion Original all over the lids. I used the shades Commando and Tempted from the Urban Decay Ultimate Basics Palette to begin defining the crease, I then went into Magnet from the same palette and began to build up the crease. To add more depth, I used the shade Dagger from the Urban Decay Naked Smokey Palette. I wanted to make this look a little more dramatic so I went into Blackjack from the Ultimate Basics and applied this to the outer V, I tried to extend the blend of this shadow into a wing, as I love how this looks.
For the lid I started by carving out the inner half using NARS Soft Matte Complete Concealer, I used my face powder to set this. On the inner third I used the shade Armor, I applied this first dry then again with a little Too Faced Glitter Glue underneath for extra impact. To ease the transition from the silver to the black I used the Navy shade from the Maybelline Rock Nudes Palette.
Of course, you could leave this look here but if you want to be a little extra, like me, I went in with a mix of glitters. I used the Silver glitter from NYX, the Gold glitter from NYX and MAC Reflects Gold Glitter, I mixed these in a little pot and applied them on top of Too Faced Glitter Glue, I used about 2/3 NYX Silver glitter and then a mix of the other two for some dimension. I didn’t want the glitter to be too densely packed so I patted it around the inner third of my eye with a q-tip.
For the lower lash line I used Commado and Tempted on a small pencil brush, I blended these shades along the whole of my lash line. I then used Magnet from about half way and on the outer third I used Blackjack to connect the lower lash line to the top lash line. To finish the eyes I lined my waterline using Urban Decay 24/7 Waterliner in Legend and blending this into the lower lashline with a pencil brush. I applied a few coats of mascara (it’s a MAC one in a black tube but I don’t know the name) and then I applied So Su Lashes in the style Gigi.
