Sunday Snapshot: How I Edit My Instagram Photos

Hey Everyone,

Today I thought I’d share with you how I edit my photos for Instagram. For me editing images is a really personal thing, I like mine to be light and warm but this might not be to  your taste so just play around and see what you like best.

I use the app ColorStory to edit my photos, I like to adjust the light balance in my images so that there isn’t too much darkness and shadow.

When you’ve chosen the image you want to edit I go to Tools > Adjust > Curves. I then move this around to find the right balance for my image, I find this is different for every image but I usually get the best result with two dots rather than one. (Just hold down the line to get another dot.)

I then go to Filters > Essentials, I like to use Pop and Everyday. I usually only add the smallest amount of these to stop my image looking too fake!

I like to use Square Fit to resize my images, it make them a square so they are perfectly sized for Instagram.

On Instagram itself I go straight to edit, I don’t usually add an Instagram Filter but Juno is my favourite of the ones they offer. Again theses settings change from image to image and sometimes I have to use the Contrast and Structure options as well. I pretty much always use Brightness, Warmth and Saturation but usually only in very small amounts.

BRIGHTNESS: I usually decrease this as I find ColorStory can almost whitewash the image and make it too light, for this image I set it to -18

WARMTH: I like to add some warmth to my images as I usually work wit warm tones so this helps make the colours more true to life and pop a little, for this image I set it to +19

Saturation: I find this helps to highlight the colours I used and bring them to life, for this image I set them to +9

I hope you found this interesting and has helped yous out a little!

Love,
