My Autumn Skincare Routine

Hey Everyone,

So Autumn is here, the crisp coolness of the air and the change of the leaves are some of my favourite things about Autumn, however the effect the colder weather has on your skin isn’t as nice and picturesque! I find that my skin really dries up in Autumn, I already have Normal to Dry skin so it only gets worse in Autumn!

Cleansers and Toners

Cleansers and toners are a great way of rebalancing your skin, they can help purify and to soothe. I like to have a few on the go depending on my skin’s needs at the time.

If I have makeup on I’ll use my Bare Minerals Oil Obsessed Cleanser, this is amazing for melting off makeup and has such a luxurious scent! Not to mention the oily consistency helps to add a little hydration back into the skin (Double Bonus). If I don’t have makeup on, or for morning time I prefer my Cetraben Daily Cleansing Cream – it’s just so gentle on the skin I really can’t stop using it!

As for toners in Winter I love my PIXI Glow Tonic in Autumn, I usually steer clear of this in summer as Glycolic Acid can strip the natural SPF in your skin but in Autumn when the suns out less and I spend A LOT more time inside I don’t find it to be as harmful or something I worry about as much! If you’re concerned about this, Mario Badescu do a lot of great toners, I love the Seaweed Cleansing Lotion!

Serums

I’m a big fan of serums and I love to use them to add that little boost to my skincare routine, there are two that I swear my and use on a daily basis. I went away with work for a few days at the end of August and decided not to bring them in favour of light packing and to say I was lost without them would be an understatement!!

My new holy grail is Bare Minerals Skin Longevity, I have the 50ml bottle and have nearly used it all in 2 months. It’s a little concerning how much I love this product but the impact it has on my skin is unbelievable! I tend to get a lot of redness in my cheeks and I also get quite a few small red bumps and this just helps to neutralise and calm my skin and helps to rebalance and rehydrate it! This product also has anti-ageing properties which is always a good option!

If you’ve followed my blog for any length of time you’ll know about my love for The  Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 5% + B5 serum. If you’ve dry skin this really is a game changer! I use this after my Skin Longevity but before my moisturiser and it makes the world of difference.

Add On’s

This is a little bit of a strange category, basically it’s collection of products that I don’t use every day but that I do use occasionally depending on my skin’s needs, these products can all be used every day if you wish I’m just a little lazy and don’t like my skincare routine to be too long!

I like to use Skinician Advanced Firming Serum on the run-up to any events or when I feel my skin is a little lacklustre! It really does help to firm the skin and is a great anti-ageing serum.

If I’m feeling really dry or my dermatitis is flaring up then I like to use The Ordinary’s Moroccan Argan Oil, this is another life saver but I tend to only use it at nighttime as it needs a while to sink into the skin.

Moisturisers

I think it’s important to have a different moisturiser for every occasion and depending on your skin’s needs.

For daytime I like to have a moisturiser with an SPF, my go to is the Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Defence. This leaves skin with a lovely radiant glow and can help your skin look brighter and healthier. It also protects skin from Pollution, Blue Light and from UVA and UVB rays with an SPF of 30! All round a fabulous moisturiser for daytime.

In the evenings I love to use my Certraben Cream, this is a very pure cream so it’s great for my sensitive skin and really helps to keep my skin hydrated and soft.
